This Week in Zixth Grade

It’s the week of the Science Fair! We’ll display our projects for judging Tuesday from 1-3 PM, and the projects will be on display in the Rattlesnake Ridge Cafeteria from 5:30-7 PM Tuesday night. Parents are welcome to join us on Tuesday night to see the projects and find out which students will represent our school in the Regional Fair.

As we finish our seed germination lab this week, we’ll compare results to find out what seeds need to germinate and which resources seeds can do without. We’ll also read about the ancient cultures of Mali, Ghana, and Songhay
- Identify the topic, main idea, and details in the selection.
- Read words with unstressed syllables.
- Use a dictionary to find meaning of words with prefixes and suffixes.
- Identify adverbs athat modify verbs and adjectives.
- Write comparative and superlative forms.
- Identify the needs of plants and ways they are met in the environment.

I think Alda Flor Ada would travel to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado because it gets snowy and cold there, which is perfect Christmas weather.
The White Witch couldn’t help but spread her bad mood throughout Narnia by making it winter all the time. When have you been in a bad mood and spread it around. Or, when were you around someone who was trying to make you as miserable as them.

- How far did she jump?
- Does she have more than one olympic gold medal?
- How long did she jump to set the record?
- What was the exact record she set for the women’s long jump?
- How many awards has Jackie won in her life?
Which kingdom was most interesting to you? Which detail about that kingdom was most interesting?
